The glyph for Pisces depicts two fish, swimming in opposite directions, bound by a silver cord. Pisces is one of the dual signs, able to sense and understand the duality of our spiritual and material nature. There are many levels of truth, and Pisces understands this innately.
Pisces is the mutable water sign. Water is the most emotional element, and mutable is the most adaptable modality. Pisces are extremely sensitive to energy and vibes, and tend to absorb the emotional atmosphere around them. The inner world is very rich, and Pisceans often have vivid or prophetic dreams. They are able to “go with the flow” and are usually very easy to get along with. They are great listeners.
Pisceans have a strong urge to care for others, and they make fantastic healers, nurses, and even executives— for their gifts, when channeled properly and combined with a strong sense of purpose, lend themselves well to leadership.
Neptune, the mythological god of the sea, planet of sensitivity and spirituality, is the ruler of Pisces. Neptune’s energy is very creative, artistic, musical. When their creative gifts are nurtured, Pisces can channel the emotional energy around them, creating brilliant, imaginative performances or works of art.
Pisces’ biggest flaw is tolerance of the intolerable. Sometimes they are too easygoing and allow bad situations to continue for far too long. It is okay to say no.
Pisceans needs to feel a spiritual or psychic connection with the world around them. It is so strong as to be overwhelming, and Pisces sometimes choose to numb it with drugs or alcohol. Or food or television, or any number of means. But they will never escape, for this heightened sensitivity is also their gift. Learning to honor their sensitivity and protect themselves when necessary can help them greatly.

This page is dead on about me, like it is scary how much this is like me. I sent this link to all my friends and they say that when they look at it to they agree that this nails me totally and when they look at there own they are dead on as well. this is a great article.2 · Danny Piche · 1 June 2005
OMG! this is so kool! i totally agree with all that this has to say i have been searching for somthing like this i am hooked on this i really think this is reliable!!3 · Sunshine · 13 October 2005
Hi Molly...I was wondering...I have basically no planets in my birth chart that are in water signs (except uranus retro in scorpio), and I've got a lot of fixed aspects. I've noticed that I get really insecure when the moon goes into Pices, and my boyfriend is a Pices so he's usually really flighty then. Is there anything I can do to make myself handle watery aspects better?4 · Molly · 13 October 2005
Sunshine,I'm in the same boat (pardon the pun). I don't have any water planets in my chart at all. It doesn't mean you aren't emotional or intuitive, but that you forget to check in. I had to consciously learn how to feel my feelings, if that makes sense. I innately would think about my situation (air), or go into problem solving mode (earth), or blow off steam (fire), but I didn't really know how I was feeeeeling about it.
When things get watery, remember to check in, ask yourself, how do I feeeeeel? How does this situation feel? Intuition is a skill like any other. For people with lots of planets in water signs, it's innate. But it can be learned.
Best,
Molly

wow...I always sort of assumed my emotions were the problem in the first place, like not having water in my chart made them irrational, i guess the real problem is I didn't take time to recognize them. this is such a simple solution, and yet so effective! :o)6 · Michele · 21 November 2005
The above description of Pisces describes my ex-boyfriend George to a T. He gets made when his dream state is interrupted. He drinks and smokes too much and he always condiers himself a victim, from the day I met him. He hasn't taken charge of his life for a long time and I held everything together for us, at least financially (and I tried emotionally) and he felt threatened by that. He was a guitarist and very spiritual and (too) sensitive. Our situation turned out that we had to walk away from each other. I wish he would read this article and maybe change a few things in himself -- being an escapist who is prone to addictions -- because I am dropping my vices. I loved him dearly and still do. As a determined Taurus, I want to fix everything but sometimes things can't be fixed when it involves two people -- they both have to make the change. You can love someone but that doesn't mean you should be together. It hurts though. I am exploring the deep spiritual aspects of astrology, karma and transformation. Thanks for the inspiring article! Maybe I can get him to read it too. Thanks again.
Peace of Mind to All

I'm a pisces and I've been struggling with my emotions and oversensitivity which I've always considered more a vice than a virtue. By controlling my emotions, I was able bring more stability. And by changing how I responded to situations, especially when it wasn't necessary, I've been much more successful in focusing on my goals and moving forward. I think that once you know where your weaknesses are and you are willing to change and improve them, then there are always differences from the stereotypical description. So strangely, there are some parts from the aquarius description which I can more relate to than the pisces description. I think all pisces (typically known to be the most mutable) can change their ways to achieve their goals and can be many different types of people, other than just addicts or the confused Once we know where we're going we can also be artists, musicians, scientists, innovators, inventors, leaders..
We just need to use our strengths wisely, such as creativity (ex. Einstein (14.03.1897) who is also a pisces), our emotions/sensitivity (definitely a strength, since we are one of the few who are able to experience very close relationships and friendship-- > we should be proud of this! :)), and over-response (we should focus more on ourselves and “what we want” than our environment or others..it is problem that we become a bit too selfless-- > we are then less stable with ourselves and prevent ourselves from reaching our full potential). Once we do this, then I would actually consider us one of the best! :)

This is definately me too! I am an air sign with north node in Pisces and i always wondered why i didn't fit the traditional description for my sign.
What people say about me is that i am moody, they never know where they stand and that i am slightly unpreditable.
On the positive side however, people often comment that i am intriguing, easy going, a lot of fun to be around, and that i have insight (especially when i tell them about my dreams). I also find that people ask me about my personal life or what i am thinking, which i find quite invasive. I also sometimes feel quite sacraficial.
I have made a living out of artistic endeavours, encompassing performing to 100's, sometimes 1000's of people at any one time. Sometimes i feel like a victim though because people in that environment either like me for no reason, or try to pull me down for no reason, probably out of jealousy.
So, now, i am a worn out old north node Pisces looking to refresh her gills.
But anyhow, i love my solitude and i also like being around other people. These days, i try to trust my intuition, and follow my heart, even when it doesn't seem logical to do so. I will be interested to see what the outcome will be.

Molly, is the downside to Pisces people that they are bullies? I know each sign has their good and not-so-good qualities. I sure know a few Pisces who, on their worst days, share the qualities of being a bully to get what they want or make their point.
In that light, I also noticed that the negative qualities of gemini's are that they can be con-artists.
They dont tell you this stuff in the “fluffy” astrology books! Just wondering your 2 cents.
I wish there was a book out there for astroloy secrets and stuff that the generic books dont talk about. That would be so helpful!
Thanks Molly!
Riley:)
13 · Molly · 13 February 2006
Riley,
Any sign can exhibit bullying behavior, although that's not normally a Piscean trait. But maybe your bully has something else going on in his or her chart. Or maybe you have something going on in yours that makes you see it that way. See? It's complicated.
Birth charts are very complex, and it's tricky at best to try to make a blanket statement like this.

Hey, this site is cool! I was born on the 20th of march which i find annoying because some sites say im aries some say im pisces so im abit confused about it. Pisces is more the person i am , can be sensitive even when there is no need to be. I broke the habbit though and started to not give a “shit” what any1 thought and now im alot better person for it and alot more strong willed. Looking over the page about pisces it is weird because it completley sums me up and ( i bet alot of pisces). But i do think its about time we all stopped being so forgiving with people and struck back abit. Thats one aspect about pisces people that i find disturbing, most of us seem abit too forgivin and care to much about what other people think of us. Its gotta change!
Btw. PISCES RULE HAHA
16 · jos · 15 April 2006
Yes indeed, pisces rule. As the last zodiac sign, we are quite lucky, especially if you are a piscean girl. :)
It’s a very feminine sign.
But we also tend (tend? do it all the time!) to manipulate people, untill we get what we want, and then simply discard them. Always feeling guilty afterwards, because we know what we have done.
We can do this, because we are highly intuitive, and you can almost say we can know and feel what other people are thinking or feeling. Evil I tell ya. But nice for getting what you want in this world.
Dirty deceiving manipulators that we are.
Escapism. I probably avoid problems, more than once a day. I do this by simply shutting my thoughts off, or with lighting up a spliff, or make other plans. Because the previous ones have failed (or i am not fighting enough for it), I focuss, and fantasize about the new goals. Other form of escapism. (forgetting old plans, fantasize bout new ones)
AND YES, we definitely need to not give * bout others people’s problems. They probably don’t care about ours as much as we care bout theirs anyways.
While i am typing this, i never believe i can ignore these feelings for other people’s problems. :(
But I can start making myself just listen. Instead of trying to find solutions in my head and such. While i should be thinking of my own things.
educate yourselves my dear piscean fellows :P
knowledge is power
17 · Hannah · 18 April 2006
Larisa,
You might have some Aries in other areas of your chart (like ascendant or moon, etc) Also…sometimes we aren’t the best judges of our own character ;)...
:)
18 · Molly · 19 April 2006
Hannah’s right.. and furthermore it isn’t fair to assume everyone with Pisces placements shares your character or your outlook. Every chart is unique, and we all make choices.
If your choice is to consciously manipulate others and play power games, you will have different outcomes, different energy, maybe even different karma than someone who chooses to live with awareness of their power, which I think is your point, but also with integrity and responsibility. Which would keep you out of the destructive cycle of using other people, then feeling guilt about it.
You are absolutely right that it’s not your responsibility to rescue or fix others, which a lot of Pisceans try to do.

Molly,
Ohhhh I’m sooo confused….I am a virgo with a pisces rising nep in Scorp ..I’ve always thought dang I don’t act like a Virgo at all….and when I pulled my natal chart and read the description and I’ve read and read and read it is me to the exact….while the Virgo is deemed uptight ..I am the complete opposite….I have the escapism bad…and I tolerate wayyyy tooo much of a bad situation….venus is Libra ..seems like I’m doomed for emotional trialss…hehe ??? How much of my rising sign really is me…...I mean when I read Virgo I just can’t relate…..I’m nit picky when my house is a mess because I feel out of whack…but that’s about it….my work ethic is that of a Virgo though ..should I get a full reading to really understand..i think I’m a damn fish….haha
and on top of it…weird I can’t tolerate Virgos….most all my friends males are either Pisces or Scorps seems to be what I attract….hmmmm
26 · Molly · 7 December 2006
Hi Sherri—
You pretty much answered your own question. You say you work like a Virgo, and there it is. You’re nit picky when things are a mess, that’s Virgo. You’re clearly into self analysis, and that’s Virgo. Just keep reading about your chart and all will start to fall into place.

This is way too accurate for me to even begin! I am a Virgo sun, and I thought for the longest that my rising sign was aquarius. But I recently found out that I havea pisces rising and it explains alot! I always seem to attract the “down and out/co dependent types”, and I always find myself caught in between other peoples drama and issues, being pulled in different directions, when all I dream about is spiritual enlightenment, heaven, and deep oceans! Learning to say no has been really hard for me, because I never want to dissapoint others, but it is a tool that I am now thankfully learning to use..to protect myself from being emotionally and spiritually drained by others.

I want to find my weakneses and try and change my way of thinking ond my reactions to different situations so i feel like im in control. If you can help me with anything in terms of that i would really appreciate this. Or anyone else who has been able to just be in control of their thoughts and feelings and reactions.

i am a pisces and this totally resembles me. but the only thing is, it make us sound like pisces can’t handle their emotions. i think pisces are born fighters, like me, and that should b included. i do care about lots of people and i have a big heart towards everyone. i’ve found my path for even though i’m only 13(almost 14), i know what my job will b when i’m older. i’m taking out the creativeness in me and i’m gonna b one of the 4: singer, actress, model, or dancer. i’ve also found tho i love to write and help others by giving advice. i just have to ask, where did u get this info from?anyways thats all and u’ll b seeing me on the big screen with in 10yrs. i think pisces never give up their dreams, for i’m fuffilling mine. i just thought u’de like to kno this and everyone else too. lol ok well by pplz.bye.

I just broke up with my Pices boyfriend. I am a sensitive Tuarus who is loving and caring. Some one said that Pices is manipulative. That is exactly how he was. He got what ever he wanted and when it was his turn he managed to cause arguments and alwasy put me down and attack my self confidance and managed to some how make me out to be wrong ALL the time. He is the most horrible person I have beenout with. Completely out of touch with my feelings and unable to communicate his own to me. I like to discuss and talk about how I feel and he never could. He always seemed to be outside of the relationship and I always felt that I was carrying the whole relationship by myslef. He never supported me emotionally or mentally or financially. He jsut seem NOT TO CARE ABOUT ME AT ALL.
I loved him but I never understood him. He seemded to change his mind about everything and I never knew where I stood.
Being a Taurus I was determined to make it work but it really does take 2.

Whoever said it’s especially good to be a female pisceaan crossed a line. Some “feminine’ abilities can be a severe upgrade for a man. My sun sign is pisces and as a male I can manipulate females (or fellow dudes) very well. I don’t take advantage of this much anymore because other parts of my chart don’t agree with doing so. My moon is aries, mars is in leo, saturn and venus are in virgo. I’m the most agressive dominating fish your gonna find anywhere and moreso with age.I did lack any real confidence when i was a kid but as I’ve grown up I’m absolutely overflowing with it. I am very artistic and creative and have dealt with alot of escapism. I used to hide from my intense feelings but i appreciate them more now, knowing that they are a gift. I care deeply for everyone but won’t stand for any bs, if you push for it I’ll light on fire! It’s a testament to the fact that all fishy’s will have certain gifts/curses in common but it’s the whole chart that describes the person.
43 · Denise · 10 June 2008
This describes my boyfriend! He is the sweetest guy on earth but has all the self confidence issues. But with me being a Taurus I really appreciate his sensitive side and don’t take advantage of it like other signs would and I also boost his self confidence by letting him know he is worth it and that he needs to know that. I have always wanted to marry a Pisces and I love it. I think they are the most good hearted sings but they don’t know it.

What? I didn’t see that anywhere Deon. Every sign has its strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to you to be a person who lives with awareness (“good” person) or a person who lives blindly and selfishly (“bad” person). The potential is there for both. The choice is yours!

How Pisces handle career and business growth, specially their inability to handle money and negotiation.
How to tell them realities of world? find a person by clearly measurement than falling to early?
or thinking their office as shops , where selling is done, organization are business organization,
or teaching them how to move in this world with strategy and purpose, rather than , to help and care.
I think as I include myself Pisces are lucky enough to find a way, whatever mess they are, and emotional protection, saying NO, when saying it is so easy.
